BIG BROTHER - LITTLE BROTHER PROGRAM
At St Patrick’s College, we shape Men of Action – young leaders who support and inspire those around them.
The Big Brother - Little Brother program embodies this spirit, fostering meaningful connections between new students and senior students.
Each new student in Years 5 and 7 is paired with a Year 12 Big Brother, someone who guides them through their early days at the College. This mentorship extends beyond orientation day as these students belong to the same House and Tutor Group, ensuring daily opportunities to connect.
The program is designed to help new students settle in seamlessly by:
- Introducing them to school routines and procedures
- Providing a trusted mentor to help them make friends around the College
- Offering a familiar point of contact for guidance and support
This bond often lasts beyond graduation, strengthening the St Patrick’s College community for years to come.
Why is it special?
The bond between a Big Brother and a Little Brother is powerful because it fosters a culture of mentorship, belonging, and leadership among students. Big Brothers serve as positive role models, helping younger students navigate academic and social challenges, while Little Brothers gain confidence and a sense of connection through the support they receive.
This relationship builds trust, encourages empathy, and strengthens the school community by promoting values like respect, responsibility, and inclusion. It’s more than just guidance; it’s about creating a safe, supportive environment where every student feels seen, heard and valued.
