The Foundations of Junior School
Junior School Precinct
Students learn in the Morrissey Building, a purpose-built environment filled with natural light, flexible spaces, and supportive staff. Breakout spaces encourage collaboration with peers, while our dedicated Diverse Learners Department provides tailored support and extension opportunities.
Big Brother – Little Brother Program
Our dedicated Formation Program helps students build strong foundations and friendships, as well as the opportunity to develop socially and emotionally in a supportive environment. All Year 5 and new Year 6 students are warmly welcomed into our community through the Big Brother – Little Brother Program, pairing them with a Senior student for guidance and connection both in Tutor Group and Formation activities.
Morrissey Men of Action Leaders
Our mission to form Men of Action begins in Junior School. Students are encouraged to be accountable, courteous, thoughtful, inclusive, organised, and to never give up. Each year, select Year 6 students are recognised as Morrissey Men of Action Leaders for embodying these values every day. These young leaders receive leadership training, attend the GRIP Student Leadership Conference, and help shape a welcoming, inclusive school culture through initiatives and events throughout the year.
Year 5 Music Immersion Program
A highlight of the Junior School experience is the Year 5 Music Immersion Program. Every student takes part in this enriching, curriculum-based initiative, learning an orchestral instrument, and singing in the Year 5 Choir. Throughout the year, students showcase their talents at our Music Ensemble Nights and participate in the Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges Music Festival (QCMF) in Term 3 – building confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of music.
Junior Afterschool Activities Program
Starting in 2026, this initiative is designed to support families with work commitments by offering supervised care from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday during term time. Held on campus, the program blends structured and unstructured activities, including arts and crafts, outdoor games, homework support, and quiet reading time in the library.
Paddy's Garden
Outside the classroom, the Paddy’s Garden offers hands-on learning about responsibility, teamwork and sustainability, contributing fresh produce to the College Paddy’s Van Ministries.
